Winton Middle School

Philosophy:
Winton Middle School will provide a positive and safe learning environment where all students will be given equal opportunity to achieve maximum growth academically, socially, and physically according to state and district guidelines.

Winton Middle School would like to welcome you to a new school year. I would like to welcome Mrs. Thao back to the Middle School as the new Vice Principal. Our new school wide theme this year is Video Games and our assemblies and school wide competition will be based around this theme. We will have a reward trip each semester for the grade level who earns the most points. This is a friendly competition that promotes school spirit.

Winton Middle School will be using one to one chrome books in the classroom again this year. We are fortunate that our district is able to be a leader with technology. We have a new communication system this year. The system is through Aeries and will allow you to contact teachers as well as check your studentís grade book. It will also allow us to get messages sent home in a timely manner. It will be very important that our office has an accurate phone number and email so we can be certain that you have received the message.

School Facilities
WMS is very pleasant and extremely well maintained campus. The architectural features of the buildings blend well with the landscape. There are four wings of permanent classrooms and two wings of portable classrooms. A large amphitheater, surrounded by sidewalks and new benches, serves as the center of the campus. The Class of 2018 planted a garden last year and will be maintained by this yearís eighth grades. The multi-use room, known as the "Eagle Dome", is utilized as a gymnasium, a cafeteria and an auditorium. The administrative offices are adjoined to the Eagle Dome. The band room is also housed here and is home to an award-winning marching band. The WMS Media Center (library) has blossomed to nearly 30,000 books; there are also approximately 20 computers available for students use. The computer lab, located in the 400 wing, has approximately 70 DELL computers. Students have access to the lab at lunch recess and after school for research and word-processing purpose
